What is menopause?

This question is totally okay to ask! There’s a huge stigma around menopause and often, we don’t discuss it at all. Let's dive right in...

Menopause is when a person stops being able to conceive a child naturally and it typically happens around the age of 50 for most people.

A number of factors can influence this age, and menopause can happen earlier or later, and can be a result of a surgery, such as the removal of the ovaries. There are 34+ typical symptoms of menopause ranging from the well-known symptoms like hot flashes, to lesser known symptoms like concentration issues, hair loss or gain, anxiety, depression, and skin problems.

Up to 20 years of symptoms

Before the point when a person's last menstruation has occurred, they may experience symptoms during Peri-menopause (the time before menopause) and after this, during Post-menopause. During these times, the production of Estrogen and Progesterone decreases which results in an array of symptoms that affect a person’s quality of life. This is why we’ve created this community - to help create solutions to help people through this often difficult time.
